Jesus 38, Scientists 0

Technology and science have provided us with many modern conveniences – world-wide communications over wireless networks, internet access to almost every form of content created, and rapid transit that makes getting anywhere in the world safe and fast. All of those advances, it can arguably be said, have increased our quality of life significantly over previous generations and we have science and technology to thank for that.

But theories like the “Big Bang without God” and “the Multiverse Theory” fronted by numerous famous, secular scientists turn factual science on its head and dramatically reduces the positive influence of science and technology – almost turning into something mendacious. When mankind, no matter how learned, chooses to ignore the universal natural truths provided so long ago, then they’ve gone too far.

Do these theories arise simply because we haven’t directly heard these truths in such a long time that they no longer seem relevant? Or is it the age-old desire by some men to turn themselves into gods?

It’s amazing that some scientists continually want to proclaim that ‘we’ve discovered the final proof’ about the origin of species and the universe despite the fact that scientific discovery has been continuous and ever-changing and new discoveries have frequently disproved previous theories. What drives these elements of humanity to continually want to define a ‘end game’ to scientific discovery instead of accepting that there’s still a universe of technology we don’t understand?

And, how far have we really progressed? Are these discoveries really that astounding or are they part of the progression of things that we are allowed to learn and master to enhance our spiritual learning experiences here on earth?

To examine how far our technology and science has really progressed, let’s take a look Jesus Christ’s miracles from two thousand years ago and compare it with modern 21st century technology. Below is a table that compares the 37 documented miracles of Christ and compares it to how many of those miracles scientists have been able to re-create with modern technology.

Sorry scientists – the final score is Christ 37, Scientists 0. Not a single miracle has been recreated. True, we’re ‘close’ to doing some of these things, but close does not count! Obviously, Jesus had some incredibly sophisticated technology at his command that far exceeds anything we currently have.

In addition, all of Christ’s miracles have also been thoroughly documented through multiple accounts or as scientists like to call it, ‘peer-reviewed’. Skeptics and secularists will dispute this by saying … well, all of those accounts were just a mass delusion. But, if it was, the very nature of such a widespread ‘mass delusion’ would be an amazing accomplishment unto itself.

Then there’s the technology of the Shroud of Turin – a 3D holographic image created through an energy source analogous to a small nuclear explosion. It wasn’t until very recently, with the evolution of sophisticated 3D graphics, that the nature of the imprint on the Shroud was finally determined. Many secularists had argued that the image of Christ on the shroud was ‘painted on’ in the 14th or 15th century. But now, scientific experts have been able to determine that the image is actually a 3D holographic image imprinted on a 2D surface.

This discovery was disclosed in a highly watched History Channel broadcast in the spring of 2010. It was provided by Ray Downing, the scientist that created of the 3D imaging technology that produced the “real face of Jesus” from the image of the crucified man in the Shroud of Turin.

“The Shroud of Turin provides actual scientific proof that Jesus rose from the dead,” Downing contended. He said the shroud is encoded with a message undecipherable until the most recent advances of modern particle physics. This technology is obviously much more sophisticated and powerful than any technology we have or are likely to have soon.

The Shroud of Turin miracle makes the final score – Christ 38, Scientists 0 – but I don’t think God was really looking to run up the score.

When and if humanity is ever allowed to even fully recreate any of Christ’s miracles in the same way in which he did them – i.e., without tons of special gadgets and instruments – then we might be able to conclude that we’ve been allowed to unlock some of the scientific mystery of God’s universe.

Until then, as a scientist, I’ll thank God for benevolently using such awesome technology to provide us with an earthly existence through which we all can learn and grow spiritually.
